Our Inclusion Philosophy
Inclusion at the Minnesota JCC is a guiding principle that shapes everything we do. It means creating a welcoming, accessible, and equitable environment where people of all backgrounds and abilities feel valued and empowered and have the ability to participate fully in our community. Inclusion is about breaking down barriers—whether physical, cultural, or social—so that everyone can belong, connect, and thrive.

Our Commitment
We are committed to identifying meaningful ways to foster deeper connections, promote inclusivity, and build a stronger, more unified community.
A Sense of Belonging
Whether through our programs, services, or spaces, we are committed to ensuring that individuals can engage meaningfully and feel a true sense of belonging at the Minnesota JCC.
More than a Department
Inclusion is more than a department at the J; it is a guiding principle that impacts our programs, services, and spaces. We are committed to developing initiatives that bring together people from different backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
Innovative Programming
We recognize the evolving needs of individuals in our community and are committed to identifying creative, innovative ways to build a strong, inclusive community.
Programs
We provide opportunities for children and adults to participate in a range of programs and opportunities at the Minnesota JCC.
Kavod Coffee
Incredible associates and participants from our adult inclusion program operate Kavod Coffee, a new coffee cart in the Barry Family Campus lobby in St. Louis Park. This project was created in partnership with the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and operated by eQuality, offering meaningful employment experiences for Jewish adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Kavod Coffee gives participants a chance to build confidence, learn lifelong skills, and serve up smiles — one cup at a time.

Giving Voice Chorus
Giving Voice is a community choir created for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Led by specially trained music professionals, the chorus meets weekly at Capp Center in St. Paul to sing familiar favorites and explore new music through adaptive methods and supportive guidance. Through the power of music, participants experience joy, connection, and meaning together.
